The Trustees of Reservations is proud to protect and steward numerous threatened and endangered species around the state, and along the coast. This summer, the Piping Plover population on Crane Beach had a record year, with 49 pairs of plovers fledging 96 chicks. In this episode, two Trustees ecologists detail the triumphs, tragedies and inside story of just what it takes to steward and manage a shorebird season on our beaches.

ABOUT The Trustees on the
Coast Podcast:
The effects of climate change are all around us, impacting our
daily lives, our homes, where we work, where our children play, and
the places that we love. For coastal states like
Massachusetts, our shores are on the front lines of these
shifts, with visible, often dramatic transformations. As the
Commonwealth’s largest private owner of coastal property, the
Trustees of Reservations is working to protect some
of our most vulnerable places—cultural and historic treasures—for
today and for future generations. In this podcast we will share
with you not only the “why,” but the “what.” The
boots-on-the-ground, action happening in and around your
communities as part of our coastal vision. The time to act is
now—and we’re on it.
